Meeting with the Department of Education and Child Development

Honorary Consul of France in Adelaide Sue Crafter, Eric Fusil and Head of Culture, Education, Science & Technology at the Embassy of France in Australia Eric Soulier have met Program Leader, Languages and Australian Curriculum Policy Coordinator Maribel Coffey (LOTE), Marylin Sleath (International Education Service) and Jayne Johnston at the Department of Education and Child Development (DECD) on Tuesday 24th February 2015 in presence of the Director of the Alliance Francaise of Adelaide Jean-Christophe Trentinella.

The outcome of this meeting is very positive thanks to the support of Eric Soulier. All parts are ready to discuss and collaborate on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This document will describe the agreement between the different parties involved and will express an intended common line of action.

Honorary Consul of France in Adelaide Sue Crafter is in charge of drafting the MoU and liaise with the DECD. Sue Crafter intents to sign the MoU before May 2015.

The signature of the MoU and the results of the survey will allow to start the prospection of a host school. Once the host school selected, with the agreement of its principal and the department of Education, parents will be invited to commit in enrolling their child or children for the grade for the following term.

When the number will be reached for the determined classroom, the school will be able to recruit a teacher with both French and Australian certifications. This person will then be able to build pedagogic resources prior to the beginning of the term. Fundings of this project will be determined by all the partners prior to the enrolments.

His Excellency Mr Christophe Lecourtier, Ambassador of France to Australia, will meet Education executives this week.
